Spring and Summer School Freshman Orientation

Summer Semester 2009 --- Freshman Orientation Program --- May 28-29, 2009

This one and a half-day program will give new freshmen an in-depth preview of campus life at UNO. Each student will be advised by an academic advisor and will register for classes. You must attend both days of orientation to register for classes. Other highlights of the program include small discussion groups dealing with adjustment to college life, campus tours, and academic overviews by the colleges. The $75 non-refundable fee includes a continental breakfast and lunch on the first day and all materials and assistance needed for advisement and registration. Orientation will be from 8:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. on the first day with check-in starting at 7:30 a.m.  The second day will entail assistance with registration of classes and should last no longer than 11:00 a.m.

**There are no family orientation programs available at our spring and summer semester Orientation programs.

**The Fall Freshman Orientation Program has a new component.... an overnight stay in UNO's newest residence halls. Students will spend the first night of orientation in Ponchartrain Hall. They will live amongst Orientation Leaders and summer housing stuff to get a first hand experience of on campus life. The $100 non-refundable fee includes the following: continental breakfast, lunch, and dinner on the first day, overnight accommodations, continental breakfast on the second day, and all materials and assistance needed for advisement and registration. Orientation will be from 8:00 a.m. on the first day with check-in starting at 7:30 a.m. and will end on the  second day which will entail assistance with registration of classes and should last no longer than 12:00 p.m.

Freshman Music Majors
All music majors must have an audition or interview with department faculty to be officially accepted into the program and/or to receive any scholarships. Contact the Music Department at (504) 280-6381 to schedule an audition before sending in your orientation reservation form. The department currently sets up two principal audition days a year.
