Academic Advising
If you're a freshman student, advising and registering for your classes is a major component of your freshman orientation program schedule. By participating on both days of the program - which you must do - you will have taken the required English Placement Test.

If you're a transfer student, you have more to do to prepare for advising and registering your classes. Advising a transfer student is often time-consuming since you and your advisor must discuss how the credits you previously earned fit into your curriculum at UNO. Therefore, you should speak with an advisor as far in advance of the start of the semester as possible - certainly before coming to a transfer orientation program.

In order to be advised, you must present an Evaluation of Transfer Credit form prepared by UNO's Office of Admissions, (504) 280-7012. If you do not have sufficient English credit you must take the English Placement Test prior to advisement. Contact your college for specific questions about advising.
